I prioritised getting worlds and frontier stations down that would deny planets to nearby empires, not necessarily because they were good worlds.Īlso, getting a scientist with statecraft specialisation so that Manifest Destiny was more likely to show up. Tripling your available colonies early is critical. Got lucky with some Tombworld Presentient Roachs too, but Droids will work. This gave me an easy and relatively controllable population with which to colonise every world type well in advance of genetic modification. The keys were early invasion of a couple primitives. It's not turtle, so much as be a sneaky fuck, snipe planets all the time, and aggressively pursue border push techs.

So, I've decided that all aliens are jerks but also scary, and that I'm best off not interacting with them if I don't have to.ĭoes anybody have any suggestions for a "turtle" empire that is focused on building up its economy\tech while maintaining neutral relations with other races?ĭid a Fan Mat Ind run last night, and by 2350 I was Overwhelming to every AI, and Equivalent to a FE with maybe 200 stars of an 800 galaxy having only declared 3 minor wars (and curiously been subject to two declarations), and then also a Fallen Empire (one already woke up and I was not keen on having a second do so right next to me). I quickly learned that I am very bad at playing aggressively in Stellaris as I was routed from the Space Toucans' homeworld after occupying the rest of their empire, throwing away a few hours RL progress as the rest of the galaxy jumped on the bandwagon to rip their former bully to shreds. Jaded and bitter from my loss, I founded the Glorious Qwib'qwib Imperium, inhabited by fanatic militarist-xenophobe starfish. My first game was as a fanatic pacifist-xenophile race of butterflies, the Papillion's, who tried to create a galactic UN, but failed and got ruthlessly obliterated by the neighbors because the AI doesn't understand how to alliance, even if you corral them into a federation.

So, I want to get back into Stellaris since I've only played two campaigns since Heinlein\Leviathans came out.
